Android Mining Beta Testing - Become a Tester!
-
@abansb Does your SD card has more than 1GB of free space? The app will just show the bigger device storage...
-
yes I have 29.71 GB free
-
@abansb I had a problem with one SD card of mine that was not showing in there too... @daWallet and @IceBurst already know about that... And i tried to format the card in the PC in various formats and format in the mobile too and nothing changed... I guess it's the earlyer code, that's the reason for the beta tests, just caught this kind of things?! They will fix it soon for sure... You could leave your Android Version, that will possible help them out...

@gpedro thanks

Problem finding the sdcards on the Transformer pad TF101. The wallet automatically goes to the main flash drive (full) . No way to point it to the other sd card slots similar to windows c:\ D:\ etc to plot file to
now working as of last update*****

I'm running android CM 6.0.1 on a Note 3. When I try to plot i get the error "ERROR IN POWERMANAGER".
I have messed around with all the battery power settings I can find but it doesn't help.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
I got the same error "ERROR IN POWERMANAGER".
I'm running Android 6.0 on Huawai P8
I had setup on power manager "Burst Wallet App" as a save app - (do not close after cell sleep)
and not help.

Thank you guys! Every error you find is a step forward for us! This is beta testing and a better version of the App will be delivered directly in your Play Store soonish. :)

Trying it with 2 Android Devices: LG G4 and LG G5
Issues/Bugs G5--running Marshmallow 6.whatever (non-rooted [and I am not patiently waiting for some Android dev to pick up a significant bounty (I think over 4000 at this point) for a root], as there are currently no safe root for US mobile carriers LG G5 firmware--all "rooting" runs significant risk of hard brick/doorstop making):
-
POWERMANAGER ERROR when trying to plot (can't play around as much on this as I can on the rooted G4 (see, infra). Total rock in the gears. No Plotting. No Mining. So I have no idea if any mining bugs exist, since I cannot plot due to this error;
-
Unable to use either external SD Card or the USB Type C 3.1 data/charging port as an option for plotting on a USB 3.1 flash drive like this:
This would be especially nice with a 5-port USB Type C 3.1 hub, something like this hub:

(apparently made for burst mining from a G5 w/ USB Type C connector)
-
3 x USB 3.0 Ports (powered) for adding lets say 3 x 2TB Externals + SD Memory Card Slot (kaaa-ching);
-
Powered/Power Delivery Allows charging of phone, tablet or phablet while mining mountains of Burst from wherever.
Regardless, at least on my G5 not only am I completely unable to plot due to POWERMANAGER ERROR, it seems that even if I were, I would be limited to my internal SD Card, which is teeming with crap, bloatware, system junk, porn, and other things I cannot part with. I need to be able to choose the place for my plots. Even if the USB C 3.1 port and hub is not viable at this point (but I'm confident we could make it work), I need to at least be able to choose the external SD Card for plotting on a 512GB or 1024GB superspeed micro SD card.
If I can help in anyway, with anything really, please don't hesitate to ask. I think this is revolutionary considering you should be able to mine considerable amounts of Burst from a smartphone....smartphone crypto miners in the past (and present) are nothing more than a novelty (you might be able to mine 20000 satoshi over the course of a month, but that is usually offset and then some by the thermal destruction to your phone from mining. So I think this is really, really, innovative and revolutionary. Let me know how I can help.
And Hats Off to the Devs and Idea guys and gals behind this project, bravo!

@Feltersnatch Great post! Seems like the app has problems recognizing external sd cards in marshmallow. We totally need guys like you with high end hardware, too.
Mining for everybody is revolutionary indeed. What we all have in common on this planet are our mobile devices. The whole world can use this currency and be a part of the infrastructure at the same time. Only a tiny bit, but part of it. It's the currency by the people for the people.
1 Million mobile miners have no costs to provide 10 GB of free space each. They would strengthen the network with 10 Petabyte. A big scale miner with HDDs who want to earn some money, which is legitimate, has hardware and power costs (overhead costs). 10 PetaByte actually cost around $ 250.000 in HDD hardware alone...
This is the magic of big numbers. It will lead to true decentralization.
-
@daWallet You're right on point, true decentralization--not just financial, but to a somewhat lesser extent in other areas as well--is within our reach, a big push like oh lets say simply the 1,5 billion--give or take a billion--mobile users in China. I'm officially addicted to Burst--between the fantastic, smart and always willing to help community, the innovative and some truly revolutionary ancillary projects like this one....One problem, when downloading the beta testing mining wallet to my G4, something must have gone awry, as the app says plotting and mining are still under development. But every time I log on it says I must be stuck on a fork since I have forged the last ten blocks....a little tough when you cant even attempt to plot or mine and find bugs, could you point me in the right direction here--uninstall and reinstall is my guess. Just let me know when you have time.
Finally, I will be starting a 12-step group for Burst addicts via a smart contract tomorrow.....Seriously though, I have a buyer for one of my ETH mining rigs with 6 R9 280x, an Asrock BTC Mobo w/ custom build aluminum frame coated in high-grade non-conductive spray on coating, the cards held in place by rubber bolts and large plastic wing-nuts and powered with 2 1500w EVGA Gold PSUs. Do you know what I'm buying with the money I'm getting from that sale: 60TB of HDDs and22 some money to invest in the upcoming Kibolotto platform. Yesterday I didn't know jack squat about mining Burst, today I still know jack squat, but I learned how to attempt to plot with my GPU, that was a hit or miss endeavor, with the CPU plotter actually being faster (likely due to my incompetence)....
Nevertheless, I got into the proper pool for people like me with a smaller set up....I may be nearing .75 TB in plots at this point (which is about to change very rapidly), but I'm learning, and I'm loving everything about it--from the truly open sourced nature of this project, to it's environmental value, to the assets and marketplace....I've been at this for less than two days and I think I have finally found the closest thing to home in a coin or token that I ever could...I've been playing in this game since 2009 and never have I been this smitten with the entire project and the people involved. And it doesn't hurt that in less than a day I went from the bottom of the historical block share (0.001% avg share to 0.102% share as I write this. And again, if I can offer my assistance in any way shape or form (I'm an intellectual property litigator by day and teaching myself software development at night so I can one day leave the law and do what I really like.

@AndroidBetaTesters
I want to thank all the users that are providing feed back and crash reports to the beta tool kit. I have addressed a couple of issues already and am working on the Power Manager Issue now. It's specific to Android 6.0+ as they changed the way "permissioning" for Apps works. I thought I had written code to check for proper access controls but I don't see it. I guess that's a by product of having two desks where I work, I must have not committed by changes from a single location. With a little more time invested we should have an update available this weekend that addressed the "Power Management Error" directly. To "work around it" you can go into the App Permission settings on your phone, select the Burst app, click advanced and grant access there. You should have received a pop-up in the app asking for access but again I don't see that code and I know I typed it at some point because I stumbled over it personally about two weeks ago.
As for other issues, a crash opening the plotter ( 1 patch applied)
A crash when starting the Miner ( 1 patch applied)I will also be focusing hard on the DOM v2 problem as I see about half of the users are on Android 4.4 and I want to support that part of the community. This is the message that reads "Please Login so we can get your account number" right after you login; Seems dumb doesn't it?
I will be rolling all these things up for the Beta Team. Again thank you for all that are supporting this effort.

@IceBurst A couple of things to report:
- "ERROR IN POWERMANAGER" bug not limited to Marshmallow 6.0+. I am also receiving the error on my G4 running 5.2 Lollipop when attempting to plot. Additionally, the workaround did not help with the issue on the G5 running 6.0.1 (The work-around you suggested does not work--although I don't have the exact settings you mentioned). Additionally, on my rooted G4, I was unable to resolve the issue, even giving the app basically full reign over everything; and,
- External SD Cards Not Being Recognized: My external (not really external, but removable and replacable) SD cards (several flavors and sizes tried) are not being recognized by the app on either the G4 or G5.
Thanks for all the hard work, when this gets rolling it's a game changer!
-
What is the status on these bug fixes. I've taken it upon myself to learn a bit about Android App Development (even going so far as to fire up the Android SDK that's been lying dormant on my main drive for like 6 months since rooting my G4); however, I don't know what the fu(# I'm doing. I know just enough to get myself in trouble. Still trying to find the source of this "ERROR IN POWERMANAGER" bug that prevents me from doing any plotting and, consequently, mining. Could anyone point me in a general direction on where to look to work on this issue, it would be most appreciated since I'm sitting here with actually 5 android phones, 2 tablets, and roughly 2TB of microSD cards....Thanks!

@Burstde The wallet works fine for TF101 KitKat
and The Moto G Adroid 4.4.4Note
-
Moto G maybe because of android 4.4.4 or memory but unable to get past starting to plot okb. I think it is capable later on when the miner gets improved.
-
I was unsuccessful in creating a plot file with TF101 because of no able to pick different card locations.
Keep up the good work this is as far as I can go now.

@Feltersnatch Can't help with the app development - but you can mine the plots on a PC then upload them to your phone(s) for mining. Just make sure the plot has 4096 nonces and a stagger of 1.
