Android Mining Beta Testing - Become a Tester!

  • @nixxda I can now access my wallet but I need to plot my card again(another 24h+) and have no access to faucet.

  • Is it possible to plot an external sdcard? When I got to plot, it only recognizes the internal memory.

  • @Phluff By external you mean sdcard pluged in through usb to the phone? If yes then it won't be recognized at this point.

  • So there is some interesting progress on this front. It "could work" is the best way to describe it. In the active beta we allow for both internal and external memory. The application searches for the largest available storage to utilize. The storage must be mounted as writeable is a caveat. It could also depend on your version of Android.

Sorry I'm not clearer on this issue but as we wrap up version 2.0 we will focus on items such as multiple storage locations and user preferences as well as direct optimized plotting and an optimized miner based on ASM/C instead of JAVA.

    Thanks,

    -IceBurst

  • @Ip85 I meant the sd card that you put in the phone.

@IceBurst I have a much larger amount of space on my external memory, which is why I was wondering. If it were possible to write to that card, it might prove useful for me to go out and get a much bigger external for mining on here, as currently, I'm noticing that you are getting large shares of the pool when mining.

Also, for this format, what would the best size of plots be?

  • @Phluff Plot Sizes are currently fixed at 1GB, plotted linear and removed in 1GB chunks. The logic behind this was lets say you stored a couple plots and were mining away but then you needed room for your actual phone "stuff". You could remove a single plot and get 1GB of space back without having to re-plot. v2.1 should address some short comings. We have continued to test and we mined all night while on battery with no problems! We have one screen we want to add to the mining screen to inform users that your reward ID will be changed if you use this tool, its to keep users from messing up their mining rigs if they are using the same pass phrase. An interesting situation that I hadn't thought about because all my Android miners are test units that were setup independently of my main wallet.

    -IceBurst

  • @IceBurst How many units can you use to mine on the same passphrase/account? I have a few dud phones around the house that could be making money for me with this. And would they all act as a cohesive unit to mine?

  • @Phluff They can not be used as a single unit. Each phone plots starting from zero, the other issue to be avoided would be pool submissions for the same account that are less preferred than previous submissions. It's best that each device have it's own unique ID for mining. Who knows maybe one will get lucky and hit a block.

    -IceBurst

  • @IceBurst Can I ask you how many gigs you have plotted on your device to ensure you get so much return? I've been watching the pool's statistics, and you find something on at least every other block we get, usually with less than a year deadline.

I'm also confused as to how the rewards are decided. Like on block 290347, when I had the best deadline of 27 days, 6 hours, 31 mins, 43 secs, I saw that the reward in the left column was somewhere around 1360.20 (stat stolen from Mr RunninZ on block 290353) the reward given at around 10-20 Burst.

  • @Phluff

Sure, the information provided here is applicable to all pools that use this method which is all that I am aware of. The graphic and metrics on the right are the payouts if the pool finds the current block. The metric on the rights is the payouts if the current block is found by the pool and is based on your DL submissions for the past 50 blocks to ensure a more even distribution of rewards. In short when a block is found 49% of the payout goes to the metric on the left, 49% of the payout is the metric on the right and 2% goes to the pool owner. We had for a while a 50TB miner in the pool so that we would receive small payouts once in a while at the 50TB miner would get 95% of the total reward because typically it had the best deadlines. When we do get our first natural block which will happen (it's just a matter of time and luck) The payouts are huge compared to our mining size.

Is for your answer on how much plot am I using, IceBurstTV which runs on an Android TV box 24/7 is using 28GB of Plots. AndroidAlpha which a simulator that I develop in is a 7GB plot. @daWallet I believe is using a much larger plot on an older phone and is asking for the speed optimizations as I believe he is 60+GB on the phone.

    Hope this helps,

    -IceBurst

  • @IceBurst That makes a lot of sense actually. I am still curious about the payout times/requirements for this pool. I've noticed that it isn't like the burst-team.us pool, in being 300+ Burst or 24 hours. Aside from that, I'm not really seeing much of a problem with the app. The pool hasn't had any down time that I've seen and the only thing that I've really seen as taking a long time is the plotting. The return for that time is almost instantaneous.

Only other thing that is still bothering me is that the app won't find my "external" sd card.

  • @daWallet

Just know I have had a second instance of plots being deleted from the sd card "by themselves".Any idea why this is happening?

  • Cannot login on any of my account after the recent update. Logging in using the save passphrase.

Not that. There are 2 pools to mine on, the mobile pool for those with 1TB Max, in case they are mining on an android box and the regular pool. Part of the regular pool's fees go to the Android miner's as bonus.

So how we are fixing it is with the new update today in the play store. It changes the url to the pool for the mobile miners, and once that is done the pool.burst4all.com url will change to the big miner pool.

That way, the mobile miners will not be affected in any way and the big miners will see the message of incorrect reward assignment.

If they ask on the forums why then we can explain to them that they were on the wrong pool

I will close this here now. Job done.
